About Us
Groundwater, which comes from hidden reservoirs beneath our feet called aquifers, is vital to sustaining ecosystems in the United States. It is used for farming, and drinking water for nearly 50% of people in the United States. Yet, it is often overlooked when considering the impacts of climate change in the future - when we hear the words "climate change," the first thing we think of is sky high temperatures, drying surface waters, and severe storms. The reason why people don't think about groundwater is because we can't see it. As a result, there is inadequate awareness surrounding groundwater issues and a lack of government policies to reduce groundwater usage in the United States. In certain parts of the United States, groundwater is being pumped out of the earth much faster than it can recharge, and there are no policies to prevent it, because people aren't even aware that what's going on is un-sustainable.

With that in mind, we created this nonprofit to analyze and predict groundwater levels using statistical modeling and data science, with a goal of increasing awareness and promoting groundwater conservation at the county level. From how it recharges, how it is used, to what you can do to promote its conservation, we hope to spread a better understanding of groundwater's importance, and begin working towards a more sustainable future!
